HOW TO CREATE YOUR OWN HOME SPA TREATMENTS
Do a dry brush first with a loofah, small towel or soft brush. Gently work from your feet upwards over your entire body. Use circular motions. You will need to do this for 5 minutes to get your circulation going and loosen dead skin cells.
Have a warm shower to open your pores and soften your skin.
Apply one of the body scrub recipes below, with your hands working in a small circular motion from your feet upwards. Rinse off
Moisturize with one of the recipes below or your normal moisturizer.
BODY SCRUB RECIPES
Basic Scrub Mix : Ingredients: 1/2 cup wheat germ, 1/4 cup fine oatmeal, 1 tablespoon rice flour
Combine ingredients and store in an airtight jar. When you want to use homemade body scrubs just put 2 tablespoons in a bowl and mix it with a wet ingredient to make a gritty paste. Use one or more of any of the following wet ingredients: natural yoghurt, milk, cream, honey, egg yolk or fruit. This scrub is gentle enough to use on your face as well as your body, just ensure the grains are very fine.
Brown Sugar Body Scrub
Ingredients: 2 tablespoons brown sugar, 2 tablespoons ground oats (grind with food processor or coffee grinder to a sandy consistency), 2 tablespoons aloe Vera gel, 1 tablespoon honey, 1 teaspoon freshly squeezed lemon juice, 1 teaspoon almond oil (in case you don’t have almond oil, use olive oil, it is a great substitute).
Banana Smoothie Body Scrub
Ingredients: 1 banana, mashed, 1 tablespoon of powdered milk, 1 tablespoon of oatmeal, 2 teaspoons of homey.
Grapefruit : Ingredients: 1/2 cup fine mineral salts, 1/2 cup fine dead sea salts, 8 oz Macadamia nut oil, 40 drops ruby red grapefruit essential oil, 20 drops lemon essential oil, 10 drops ylang ylang essential oil.
Directions : Stir essential oils into the macadamia nut oil. Add the salts and mix well. Pour into a hinged tight sealing jar. You can substitute the Macadamia nut “carrier oil” with other carrier oils (i.e. Pistachio oil, sweet almond oil, hazelnut oil or a mixture of oils).
Coffee Body Scrub
Ingredients: 2 cups of coarsely ground coffee, 1/2 cup raw sugar or sea salt, 2-3 tablespoons of massage oil
Grapefruit Sugar Scrub : Ingredients: 1-1/2 cups white table sugar, 8 drops grapefruit essential oil, 2 drops red food coloring (optional), 1/4 cup jojoba oil, 1/4 cup liquid castile soap
Directions:
Place sugar into a large bowl and stir to break up any clumps. Add the essential oil. Add one or two drops of red food coloring if you’d like it pink! Mix very well to make sure the color is evenly dispersed. Add the jojoba oil and Castile soap next, a little at a time, stirring after each addition. Mix well and the pour into clean container.
Moisturizing Body Scrub
Ingredients: 1/2 cup liquid glycerine, 1/2 cup water, 2 1/2 to 3 cups sugar or salt (white sugar, brown sugar, or table salt), 1 teaspoon solid coconut butter or solid coconut oil, 6 drops of essential oil of your choice, or combine several (not to exceed 6 drops)
Directions: Combine glycerin, water, and one cup of sugar or table salt until the salt/sugar has mostly dissolved. Add the remainder of the sugar/salt until you have a rather pasty mixture, at a consistency you prefer. Meanwhile, melt the coconut butter or oil in a small container, in your microwave. MELT, but do not overheat. Stir the melted coconut oil into your sugar mixture, and stir well. Last, add the six drops of essential oils of your choice, stirring to blend. Melt and add more coconut butter or oil to reach your desired consistency. Transfer your mixture to an airtight container or jar, and cool until slightly thickened.
